Cegeka Group and KEYES have announced a strategic partnership, ‘Belgian Critical Cloud’, aimed at securing Belgium’s digital future by offering a sovereign, nationally controlled alternative for critical digital infrastructure.

Belgian Critical Cloud intents to provide a solid industrial and financial foundation for long term collaboration in the field of critical and sovereign digital infrastructure. The partnership targets government, defence and other operators of critical infrastructure that require the highest standards of security, resilience and legal certainty.

At the core of the partnership is a joint critical and sovereign cloud proposition that ensures 100% Belgian data residency, full compliance with Belgian and European legislation, full operational control within Belgium and the EU, and complete independence from foreign extraterritorial laws such as the US CLOUD Act.

“Digital sovereignty is no longer a theoretical debate. It is an operational requirement for governments and critical infrastructure providers. And in Belgium, that need is urgent. We clearly see that demand accelerating in the market, as organizations increasingly look for trusted local alternatives that guarantee control, compliance and resilience. Together with KEYES, we’re delivering a sovereign, Belgian-controlled solution that combines deep technical expertise with legal certainty and long-term trust.” Koen Deryckere, CEO Cegeka

A sovereign response to rising digital and geopolitical risks

Belgian public authorities and critical infrastructure operators are increasingly confronted with the risks associated with dependence on international cloud providers that fall under foreign legislation. The partnership between Cegeka Group and KEYES directly addresses this challenge by offering an end to end solution that remains fully under Belgian jurisdiction at all times. It’s designed to serve sectors where sovereignty and resilience are non negotiable, including government, defense and other operators of critical infrastructure.

A key differentiator of the partnership is a sovereign resilience approach, ensuring the protection and continuity of vital national digital assets.

“By bringing together the complementary expertise of KEYES and Cegeka Group, we are offering a unique integrated approach in Belgium, capable of supporting both public and private organizations in addressing their resilience, business continuity and strategic autonomy challenges.

Together, we are also making available to organizations one of the country’s largest pools of digital and cloud expertise. Our ambition goes beyond a technology partnership: we aim to contribute to the development of a genuine Belgian digital sovereignty ecosystem by progressively bringing together industry, academia and innovation stakeholders around a shared vision. Because it is by combining our knowledge, expertise and innovation capabilities that we will be able to sustainably address the challenge of digital sovereignty.” Laurence Mathieu, CEO of KEYES

Both partners bring long‑standing ownership of and technical expertise in their own infrastructure and data centers. Cegeka Group and KEYES have built, operate and secure complex data‑center environments for many years. This hands‑on experience, combined with full control over infrastructure layers, allows the alliance to guarantee a level of transparency, resilience and sovereignty.

Structural partnership with a strong industrial foundation

The partnership is designed as a long‑term industrial collaboration, underpinned by shared investments, joint governance and a common roadmap. Cegeka Group and KEYES intend to pool  their expertise to sustainably develop, operate and scale sovereign digital services for Belgium’s most regulated and mission‑critical sectors.

A long-term commitment to Belgium

Cegeka Group and KEYES underline their shared commitment to Belgium’s digital autonomy at a time of increasing cyber risks and geopolitical uncertainty. The collaboration positions both companies not only as technology providers, but as long‑term strategic partners dedicated to safeguarding the country’s digital innovation and national interests.
